Ramesh Gorjala was born on April 15, 1979, in Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh. It is in the Chittoor District. He earned a BFA in Painting from Jawaharlal Technological University, Hyderabad, A.P. Then, he made Contemporary Art. Best Ramesh Gorjala paintings in India. His appearance reflects his Indian descent and culture. It shows, in vivid detail, various Indian gods and goddesses.
the artist uses a delicate, intricate technique. It portrays his spiritual beliefs. His imagery and process present a stark portrayal of Indian mythology. His palette of gold, red, and green creates a swift, natural mood in his paintings. His skillful ability to convey moods gives them an ancient yet modern feel.
His subjects include the primary gods and goddesses of the South Asian pantheon. They are Hanuman, Vishnu, and Buddha. They are each painted with great detail and a strong dislike. Gorjala does not limit himself to a single, large protagonist in his pieces. Instead, he integrates subjects. He mixes not one figure, but fused images. They all unite into a broader vibe. This is sometimes done by text fragments, usually in the background of his surfaces. They add a deeper dimension to them. Another repeated element in his habit occurring is the checkerboard pattern of black and shades of white and grey in the background. It is a novel, advanced slope to pieces with a spiritual, stated environment.
Gorjala’s work has won him various awards. They include the 2000 Mahatma Gandhi Birth Centenary Memorial Award from the V.T.I., Chennai, and the 2002 State Award from the A.P. Crafts Council. The performer has had many solo exhibitions. They also took part in group shows in India and abroad. Some of his solo shows predate two exhibitions.
They are ‘Mythological Metaphor’ at Chawla Art Gallery, New Delhi, in 2010, and ‘Embracing Modernity’ at Mon Art Gallerie, Kolkata, in 2007. They were earlier ones in Hyderabad and Bangalore. His works have been in group shows in Mumbai, New Delhi, Jaipur, Chennai, Bangalore, and London.
The figures of Indian epics inspired Ramesh Gorjala Paintings. His art features recurring mythic figures, like Vishnu, Krishna, Hanuman, and Kamadhenu. But his depictions of these epic figures are unique. They weave many narratives, figures, and texts into the main icon. It’s a complex task. In his own words, “The beauty of mythology lies in telling a story in a way that engages people.” I am fascinated by drawing Hanuman and Krishna. When I began, I realized that many artists had drawn gods and goddesses earlier. I began to weave countless figures into the outlines of Hanuman or Krishna. Thus, I told different stories. My acrylic works on canvas and handmade paper blend folk and contemporary styles.
His canvas Sita Ram has large figures of Sita and Ram. Their bodies are like a parchment painting, showing episodes from the Ramayana. They include: Sita Kalyanam, Maricha as a golden deer luring Rama into the forests, Hanuman’s devotion, and the ten-headed Ravana. The many images in one are like our grand epics. Each story is unique and complete, but they all feed into a larger narrative. The background of these main icons is also interesting. It has art that resembles paintings done with the kalam. The motifs are recognizable from the kalamkari tradition.
Ramesh Gorjala paintings also uses a chequered-board pattern in the background. South Indian textiles inspired its shades of white, black, and grey. Having a huge appeal among art lovers, Ramesh Gorjala’s art is well sought after for its South Asian ethos.
His collectors include many, like Beyoncé and Narendra Modi. They asked him to depict Kamadhenu, a symbol of wealth, joy, and luck, in his signature style. Gallerie Splash conceptualized and hosted Gorjala’s solo, sold-out show, ‘Samarpan’, in 2016. Gorjala has now expanded his skills to wooden carvings and relief sculptures. Gorjala often visits Hyderabad. But, he prefers Tirupati’s calm for his work. He now works from that temple town.
