About Lalitha Bandaru
Lalitha Bandaru born and brought up in Hyderabad, India, is currently doing her BA(hons) degree from Lasalle college of the Arts, Singapore.
Ever since she was a child, her heart throbbed for anything that has to do with art. Art making was her way of responding to the outside world. Nature has always been the main source of inspiration in her work. The series “Flirting with Nature” which she showcased in her first solo exhibition held at Hyderabad, India in 2010 at the age of 17, and her subsequent series ‘Vanishing Magnificence’ & ‘Transient Nature’ have been the result of her continued obsession with the enthralling quality of Nature.
More recently she has been intrigued by the concepts of space and the way space produces some sort of ethereal experiences when entered fascinates her. The works from her current series ‘At the threshold of Abandonment’ do not necessarily create a spatial experience but are her responses to the experiences she had in abandoned sites. She has been working with drawing and painting media throughout her artistic practice but has recently ventured into sculptural forms involving materials such as stone, wood and concrete for her current series.
